Chief David Perkins made his retirement official.

On April 30th at a special meeting for City Council Chief David Perkins made his retirement official. We tried to give him the best send off we could in honor of his nearly 33 years of service. He received a plaque from the department as well as a flag that was flown over the State Capital in his name with a certificate for his service. After the Council adjourned we moved outside for a surprise parade of Law Enforcement through the parking lot of the Police Department. The Mayor, City Council Members and the City Manager presented Chief Perkins with a plaque and a proclamation from the City naming April 30th Chief David R. Perkins day.

Mayor Garza made the announcement that the Council had named Assistant Chief Jimmy Loya as the new Interim Chief of Police for the City of George West. Chief Perkins announced that the City was in good hands with Chief Loya and had every faith in his ability to lead the department and service the citizens of George West.

Chief Perkins will be missed. But, we wish him well on the next exciting chapter in his life. Spending more time with his wife and family.
