The City of George West and the George West Police Department along with volunteers from the local area would like to announce the beginning phase of the Generous George Project. The Generous George Project is 100% non-profit and run solely on the love and generosity of volunteers from George West and the Live Oak County community. The “Stitch-a-teers” quilt, sew, crochet, and knit blankets for child victims in our community. The blankets are given free to a child from 0-18 years of age during a crisis or at a time when a little comfort is needed. We are looking for new “Stitch-a-teers”, donations of material, thread, quilt batting and ect.
If you would like to donate a handmade un-used blanket for the Generous George Project you can contact Missy Beck at the George West Police Department 361-449-3800.
These blankets will be with every officer on every shift. The long-term goal is to have enough for all Law Enforcement, Fire Department and Children’s Social Agencies to participate.
There are a few requirements for the blankets.
1. Handmade and unused.
2. Sewn, quilted, crocheted, knitted, rag blankets, ect.
3. 36″x36″ for infants and 40″x60″ for older children. (This makes storing and transport easier)
4. Boy, Girl or neutral colors.(As long I need as they are “happy” colors)
Remember these blankets are for children who are already going through alot and this might be the only thing they have.
