We received a prescription medicine box from the Coastal Bend Council of Government. This box is for our citizens to dispose of their expired or otherwise unwanted prescription medication instead of flushing it down the bathroom toilet or throwing it in the garbage. The box is located in the lobby of the George West Police Department at 404 Nueces Street. The lobby is open from 8a-5p (Monday through Friday) on most occasions. If the lobby doors are locked, just call the Live Oak County Sheriff’s Dept. at 361-449-2271 and ask for an officer to come to the police department and he or she will let you in to dispose of your medicine. Just another way of keeping prescription medications from unwanted hands and from discarding it into the water system.
